Brought a broken Risc PC 600 MK1 Machine to see if I could repair it, im used to repairing old Macs and not acorns, this is my 3rd Risc PC Machine and my 1st Attempt at fixing a broken one,
the board wasn't too bad with a knocked off cmos chip and a resistor which I replaced, I found the cmos chip rattling round in the machine, after cleaning up with some vinegar and alcohol, I resoldered it to the board and replaced the resistor at SK6, this then got the machine to boot but the video wasn't happy as you can see it was wobbling, so next was to check the caps around the VIDC, nothing looked too bad, so I spotted another post and it said to check C122, so this was the 1st one I replaced which is a 4.7mf 33v which I didn't have to hand so used a 50v one instead and hey presto! All Working Again!Statistics: Posted by RetroMacintosh — Wed Jan 15, 2025 8:47 pm
