Update: fault solved, IC1 UA43 voltage reference IC on the daughter board had a fractured leg, refitting solved the PSU issue, nice stable 5v now.

Well done in finding this! I've never to work on the daughter board, did you have to remove it to replace IC1 or can it be removed with the board in-situ?
