Sorry to chuck something else in your direction - it's a change - and maybe one you won't want to make.

But here's my thinking ...

When you extract a file from a DFS image and import it to an ADFS image, you end up with a file you can't read or write (because they are not DFS attributes, so they're not set in ADFS).

So, I acknowledge that DIM is accurately reproducing the file attributes (which clearly for DFS is Locked only), but I think it would be useful to reproduce the implied attributes / functionality / user experience too.

By which I mean, an unlocked file on DFS can be Read and Written, a Locked file can only be Read. So could those attributes be ADDED to any inf file exported from DFS, so when it's imported to ADFS (or other FS) you can still Read/Write the file in the same manner as on the DFS source disc?

This would make the process smoother when moving files between filing systems.

Thanks.
