Well this is exciting. Thanks to your help we have overcome the first hurdle. We identified no continuity between pin 8 and R281
It was quite a sight to behold.
Excitement was slightly short lived when we realised we cant see the floppy or hard drives. We had a little dip into the command line but repeatedly get a “bad drive” error on many commands that might relate to the file system. We figure all the drives cant be bad (and they are spinning up) but i do remember that the IDE circuitry can also be affected by the battery leak.
There were no floppy drive codes this time. We’re kinda hoping this is just a config problem which will be quick to put right but we’re definitely on the way eh?
Thanks so much for your help so far. Im eagerly awaiting your response.

and after some amazing soldering from my pal ( and a slight pregnant pause when we got nothing on boot up, traced to the fact that i had failed to plug the last power connector into the motherboard) we have a boot to desktop. (Sorry not sure why it’s rotating through 180º. Is normal in my photo picker)It was quite a sight to behold.
