I thought I'd install a TMS5220-based speech system in one of my machines but when I came to do so I found this...
...the socket for the serial ROM out of place by one row of pins. I can only imagine it's a production defect that has gone unnoticed until now. The rest of the PCB looks completely standard and un-molested, apart from the tidy installation of a disc interface, along with an Aries B20 and B12.
Perhaps I'll leave this one as it is and put the speech system in a different machine.
