8-bit acorn software: classic games • A very spooky beebjit capture (Spooksville run)

Inspired by the Spooksville thread, I'm working on a beebjit run through of the game as it seems to be sufficiently obscure that until Necronom's efforts there was no published run. I thought it would be fun to post about it as I go along. Route planning for these sprawling Citadel style arcade adventures is not the simplest thing in the world as there are many choices to be made.

So, some notes about the game.
General
-You can run, jump and climb ladders. You can jump up ladders for a nice speed boost.
-No fall damage and you can move around as you drop. Always handy for a quick getaway.
-You have a little projectile attack. Pressing fire on its own makes it appear 'inside' the player like a shield. Fire + left or right sends the projectile out a short distance
-The projectile costs 1 health to use. Most screens have an enemy that homes in on you. The only purpose of the attack is to kill this enemy. Hit it and you get 1 health back. So it's in our interest not to miss, or we'll slowly lose all our health!
-Every other regular enemy cannot be defeated and does big damage it you touch them. The hitboxes are larger than they should be too.

Items
-You have 3 item slots in your inventory. This is a big limit on which routes we can use as we must be careful that we have everything we need to solve each puzzle
-Item management is a pain. Each time you press space and pick something up, you cycle the whole inventory. So the new item goes in the left hand slot and everything you already have shifts one slot to the right. If there's something in the last slot, it's dropped. So you can only control what you can drop by controlling the order you pick things up.

How to win
-The goal, as explained by the instructions is to find 3 items. A scroll, a magic ring and a spell book. The spell book is in such a location that once you find it, you can never leave, so we must find the magic ring and the scroll first and take them to the spell book.
-There are 4 super bad guys which will kill you instantly on touch, which can only be defeated by finding the appropriate item and using it on them.
-And finally, there are 5 crosses hidden throughout the map which must be taken to a specific screen to progress.

So we need the most efficient way to get to the scroll and the ring, find and deposit all the crosses and kill all the super baddies, all whilst staying alive and only being able to carry 3 things at a time. Lets get to it!
