This is all good stuff Tom... just to note, I briefly tried building b2 myself, and failed. The motivation was to see how much faster a native ARM version might be - the published version is of course an x86 build and in my case has to run with Rosetta 2 technology. It might not make much difference, of course, Rosetta being really rather good. I'm not sure I'm ready to try again, so just to let you know. I deleted my workarea (I'm not usually so tidy) so I'd have to start again if I were to try to get you any more concrete info. Perhaps other users of ARM-based Macs will do better than I did. But then, the motivation to run an unthrottled emulation is a bit unusual!
