Huh, that's interesting and new to me. I would almost suggest it's a Power On Reset issues - the system needs that signal to set initial values as the ice40 doesn't allow that, but I think you get a whole bunch of other weirdness if that was the case and it's only on first boot from power up - you could take a look at that signal trace anyway and see that you get a nice RC charging curve that take ~160ms to get to 5v (Yellow trace in this old troubleshooting trace):
So the display is pushed about halfway across the screen and about 2 lines up.
If I remove/replug power 2 or 3 times, then it works and I get the normal Elk boot screen. Wondered if you had any thoughts on that?
How do you get the video out? Is that RGB out or composite?
