but no sound at all on my TV/Monitor Samsung T22, with default settings of alpha sw.

I think I found the problem: I analysed the circle source code (a bare metal OS) and found it was using an IEC958 format bitstream rather than raw PCM so I changed my code to use that instead.

If you still have problems, can you post the EDID.BIN from that TV. Use the save Log and EDID option in the info menu. Maybe that will indicate something about supported audio formats.
