You know they actually sold some cubs over there under the Electrohome brand. I've never seen one up close and they're likely to be different from the standard UK ones not least because the USA has had more strict EMI rules for years. As someone bloody insane enough to have a Cub shipped over to the USA that ended up needing a new tripler, I've been following this thread in the shadows...
This info about the socket type is interesting background info. I have one of those CRT restorers and had to make my own cr23 adapter for it. It seems it's quite a common socket on various arcade monitors.
The 14" Cub still uses the lower EHT and focus voltages but they advertised bigger models up to (I think) 21" and that probably would have had higher EHT but I've never seen any of the bigger models and have no idea whether there are any still in existence.
There is a later version of the CUB which uses an LOPT type of Flyback transformer but I've only seen a few of them. It wouldn't surprise me if they stuck with using Triplers because they were obsolete and available cheaply!
In a way they've done us a favour as the classic Flyback transformer is much simpler and very reliable, and the Triplers are more likely to be replaceable in the distant future than a modern LOPT with integral diodes.
