acorn atom and acorn system series • Replica Atom video issues

I finally finished one of ChrisO’s replica Atoms. To my immense surprise (a reflection of my skills, not Chris’s designs) it actually worked first time.

The only wrinkle I’ve so far is the video output (same for both composite socket and RGB socket via OSSC, RGBtoHDMI, or SCART into an old TV):

1) There’s a lot of background noise
2) OSSC really struggles to detect a sync signal - fails more often than gets it
3) RGBtoHDMI completely fails to find anything on BBC mode

Composite finds a signal most times. RGB usually fails (for any display mechanism) more often than it finds it.

Below is a photo of one of the occasions OSSC managed to actually display something for long enough:

The colours are really washed-out. Is that the normal colour display for an Atom (I only use RGBtoHDMI on my real Atoms).
I’ve tried connecting my Atom RGBtoHDMI to the video connector on the Replica. It does nothing (not sure it’s even getting power).
