Yes, you’re right but I had to rule it out.40 means just "Border colour register" and 50 means "Mouse pointer colour 1" (see VIDC datasheet page 16) - that was never going to have much effect on your crash, though changing the mouse pointer colour is nominally more useful when you have no visible screen border.
That’s an interesting thought, I doubt this debug code has been used since well before the IOMD, as debug code is only needed when things don’t work as expected.As demonstrated, VIDC can be poked at &03500000 but I wonder if this is accessible during FIQ with IOMD.
