I'm thinking you need to test with a genuine 177x before you go any further! The Vetro part may be the cause of the issues you're seeing. I don't have enough to sell you one but I could 'loan' you one for testing . . . let me know!

I set it to 1770 mode and it didn't work, so I tried to read a formatted disc on a Greasewezel and it had 10 missing sectors.
I then wrote a disc using the GW and I can read it on the elk

So it is working, but for some reason the format is not formatting correctly.
