I would love a C128, weren't very common here in the UK, I guess a bit like the BBC in the US. I do travel over to the states regularly, so maybe i should try and pick one up. as they don't seem to go for the same insane sums that they go for over here. Another on my list is a Apple II GS or suchlike, as we only ever got the europlus in the UK.
I have seen PAL 128Ds in the UK. If I were you, I'd be looking in mainland Europe for a 128D (i.e the Euro version), although the plastic cases haven't always held up, versus the 128DCRs in the US, which I've seen run $600 (however, make sure you get one with a keyboard, I've seen those go for $300 by themselves). Working 128 "flats" seem to run $250-$300 and are much more common. I forget exactly what I paid for mine (the good condition one, not the barn find), but it was at auction in unknown condition - probably "too much" in the end.

I've never used GEOS, but it seems so much like the windowing system on the BBC (Master?) Welcome disks (I'm not sure if that ever had a proper name).

As for the GS, it seems to be quite desirable, but it's not for me. I'm on the lookout for a IIc, if only for space considerations.

What I do have here is a 2001 PET. Waiting for some replacement 6520s, and hopefully it should be good to go. What's interesting about them and the VIC-20 is that they are such simple machines, very easy to understand.
