Out of interest as I'm taking a look at the ATF15xx series for some projects, does anyone know if the ASV 3.3V range can be pushed to tollerate 5V signals? These ASV parts are cheaper and available in the TQFP package which I like and the datasheet has absolute ratings of -2V to +7V, but only for pulses of less than 20 ns. My half-baked thinking is well if I'm only pushing it to 5V, not 7V, can I get a bit longer with my pulses and not have it explode? :D

I'm going to put it to the test on an upcoming project (probably months away), with a board that can take either a AS PLCC or ASV TQFP part to see if it explodes, just interested if anyone else had also messed about with them in this way too...

Oh, and as I'm a MASSIVE CHEAPSKATE - I'm also intregued to know if anyone had had any luck eaking out more registers from the ATF1502 using the "Logic Doubling® architecture" that claims to add some more flip-flops to the macrocells. At the moment I'm using playing with Quartus and converting to 15xx using the POF2JED but maybe if I convert the design to WinCUPL I'll magically get 64 registers instead of just 32 on the 1502 chips? :D
