One of my older ex-colleagues used an encased Apple II for controlling a spectrophotometer in the mid-80s. I did remember he used an Apple II in the past, in biochemistry labs and wondered how he managed to use an Apple II in the lab, given how messy and wet, the labs of old, were - we mainly use nano/microlitres of reagents and continuous flow chemistry through sub-millimetre tubing these days - vs. test tubes and beakers and 1cm cuvettes. He also said that most customers moved to PCs in the late 80s, early 90s when they got replacement equipment, or had a decent built-in computer.

I've got some of his old things he gave me including a beat-up, well read, book titled "Science and Engineering Programs: Apple II Edition" edited by John Heilborn published in 1981 - lots of very useful maths functions for scientific use, shame there was no BBC BASIC version, there are no scans of it available, maybe I should scan it and create a BBC BASIC version?

Xcalibur Computers Ltd is still owned and run by Jeffery and Judith Barringer in Northampton since 1982, I can understand my ex-collegaue not remembering much about it, given this was 40 years ago and he's in his 80s now. I guess if it's an Apple II in a case, then it's probably this?
