I have been using an Antex soldering iron for ever but recently ran into problems soldering a PLCC socket.
I managed to destroy 3 seperate ARM 84 pin PLCC sockets with the Antex and caused major damage to the board.
I was very proud of the Antex as it was temperature controlled, but the proverbial "When all you have is a hammer then everything looks like a nail" applies.
I researched precision soldering and decided to upgrade. The new tip is tiny, sub millimetere, and can go where no man has gone befoe (Or just me)
Now i need to find out how to swipe solder with a chiesel tip (Yippee)
I thought you could have a good laugh
