Firstly there's absolutely no need to "Solder to the board". An A300/A400 PSU will work just fine if you adjust the plug - the A540 accommodates both a single plug, and also, usefully, individual spadesCan anyone tell me anything about the power supplies for the Archimedes 300/400 series, in terms of performance data?
I have an R260 here that is being repaired and unfortunately does not have a power supply.
Now, of course, I would like to know whether the performance of the A300/400 would be sufficient if the connections were soldered onto the board accordingly.
But a better bet, if your A540 PSU really is unrepairable (unlikely really) is to put a brand new Meanwell PSU inside it - then it'll both look correct and work better than maiming a defenceless A300/A400. You could even keep the original cable loom.
