32-bit acorn software: RISC iX • Re: Working RISC iX IDE driver, "ecide"

I've been working on an IDE driver for RISC iX and wanted to share where it's up to, as it's now doing something. This will be missing crucial details I'm sure, but "ask if you wonder" and I'll follow up.
Hi Matt (if you're still about!)

What are you needing to get Super I/O IDE support going?

Just asking as I'm close to done with fixing up an A5000, and through the Bush box work and RISC PC repairs I've ended up getting a little too intimately acquainted with the Super I/O hardware. I'm happy to lend a hand if you're up for it, but I'd need to brush up on the RISC iX driver interface API if you have any good references on that.

It'd need new serial and parallel drivers too as the Archimedes-class ones aren't compatible (65C51 -> 16C550 and unidirectional latch to PS/2 style bidirectional) but that can be left for later. It might be possible to port the PC ones from BSD.

I'm also up for adding support for more IDE podules, I currently have access to a HCCS IDE/A3000, a Castle A30x0 IDE and an Arcin/Blitz.

Cheers
Phil.
