Might be why it's not responding right for the rest of the disk if track 0 is being read.This doesn't matter for the directory as that's on track 0.
There were odd issues between them, like 40 track drive struggled to read an 80 track formatted with the double stepping trick to pretend it's 40.
Does the bbc cache the index? On Facebook he said it would appear to write, then disappear after a power cycle - or something like that
