On the drive case, I recently stripped and painted a Prodest 128S drive unit. The plan is to use it as a Filestore/drive unit for the Communicator.
I used a polywheel to remove the loose paint and rust (the rust was far more extensive than appearances suggested). I then used an orbital sander to give a smooth surface and primed, wet sanded and painted the case. I'm very happy with the results.
I used RetroBrite to remove yellowing from the grey plastic parts but this wasn't as successful as on other pieces I've done. So, I'm going to use some vinyl dye to improve their appearance.
On the PSU, I've had a couple fail in Compact drive units and have just replaced them with open frame PSUs of similar capacities as it was cheaper/easier than fixing them.
