Decided to start a new topic on this restore. I have this machine below, and have begun the process of restoring it to former glory. I've persuaded it to start by removing some bad 2114s, so for the time being it's running on 1K RAM.
I'm now turning my attention to the accompanying Floppy Disk Controller, which Pete tells me is from Premier Publications, back in the day. Picture below. It came with a 5.25 inch drive, which looks reasonably intact- it's housed in a metal enclosure. The big problem is I know nothing about this card.
I did a dump of the CEGMON EPROM, and it looks like stock CEGMON (Pete - am I correct here?) When "D" is pressed, it would appear to jump to $FC00, which in turn calls a subroutine at $FC0C. This routine looks like it's initialising some registers based at $C001. Can this be the address of the FDC card? A couple of appeals;
1. Does anyone know anything about the FDC, particularly the big 40 pin Thomson chip (Marked EFC 19) ? Is it something like the WD FD1771 chip?
2. Does anyone have an image of ROMDOS?
Thanks all.
