Melting some fresh (leaded) solder in can help too. If the board is particularly fragile, Chipquik and a hot-air station can be helpful. It's meant for SMDs but if you can melt it into the thru-hole solder, it'll reduce the melting point enough to keep it molten while you pop the socket out.I recommend gently abrading the old solder/joints with a glass fibre pen beforehand; cleans them up nicely for (de)soldering, making the job easier. Not really looking forward to replacing the sockets, this board is a pain to desolder on. Combination of slightly oxidised solder and I'm assuming thick ground planes have meant I've had to use a combination of moo gun and desolder braid (top and bottom of the PCB) for everything I've taken off so far.
