Hello to all.
After almost 30 years, nostalgia came, I unboxed my good old BBC model B, bought an MMC card interface with MMFs and started digging this site. After a lot of reading and being newbie to programming EPROMs, I would like to make clear some things concerning the EPROMS that the Beeb can handle. I understand that the main chips used were 27128 (16kB) and 27256 (32kB) but they're obsolete. From what I've read here and seen on Youtube, I can use the AT27C256R-70PU OTP EPROM and AT28C256-15PU EEPROM using the upper half of the chip. I suspect that these are not the only EPROMs I could use but I don't know the characteristics that a combatible one should have. Any lights on this?
Last but not least, the EPROM programmer: i know that TL866II Plus is a very good one to use, but, as I live in Greece, it's hard to find it here, but I came accross on T48 programmer which is supposed to be a successor to TL866. Has anyone who used it share his experience? Is it OK for what I need? Any better suggestions?
Any thoughts and answers are welcomed.
Thanking in advance.
