It might be good to see your ROM in case it's a version not seen before.
Here you go... The ROM identifies itself as version 1.20 as per the photo earlier in the thread. It seems different to the 1.20 and 1.21 images at mdfs.net.
You still have this odd autorepeat unwanted input? And it increments the character each time you press return?? Very unexpected.
Yup - the sequence seems to restart at "c" if I power cycle the copro, but just continues where it left off if I reset the Beeb. Oh, and if I run "stat" rather than "dir", it starts at "d" rather than "c". To my famously poor diagnostic skills, this is now pointing to a fault in the copro rather than the Beeb - even though the copro was absolutely fine with my first Beeb a few mionths ago.
Have you cleaned the connector by removing and plugging in the connector around five or six times? Is the cable and the connector okay. Is the ROM socket in the co-pro okay?
Yup - Tube connector on the Beeb and the socket on the cable have had a good dousing in contact cleaner and scrubbed and unplugged/replugged, cable looks fine and I have checked for continuity and shorts. The inside of the copro is really clean, but I have cleaned the sockets and reseated the EPROM, Z80 and copro ULA.

The only other random thing I noticed was that the 5v rail is at 5.2v in the copro and pretty much spot on 5v in the Beeb - could the 0.2v difference be putting strain on something?

Thanks again for all the help.
