I'd like to have a mod to allow the 4kB block erase on the Microchip part, it'd save a whole tube of FlashThere is also a problem with the code that I uploaded to github, which makes it inclined to say NO quite a lot more than it should.
I will see about updating it or maybe just paste the fixed version here for now.
Also there can be a problem that if you install a broken rom in the flash you are in a whole world of pain. I am contemplating knocking up a quick ROM that you could put in one of the mother board sockets that would get fired up by the MOS earlier in the boot process which just erases the flash chip.

Yeah, getting a duff ROM image when the IC is soldered in meant desoldering it
Fool me once... I put a socket in after that, just as well I did as the second chip also sent the Beeb into a spasm 
I did wonder if there is anything useful we could do with the high nybble of ROMSEL? I think it is ignored.
