It's not just Beebs - I've a C64S which is basically Trigger's Broom - I think I've probably swapped every consequential part on it at least twice before getting to a state were it's now stable for anything upto 30 mins. At that point I called it quits. No stray hairs in my case - just a ton of badly desoldered, resoldered, desoldered components, barely there pads, traces I've accidentally scraped the tip of an iron over and a mess of bodge wires. Sometimes you just get a bad one sometimes you catch a break - at least now you have a spare 6502!I hope you have fixed it, as its intensely irritating, I have had 'Incredible HULK' moments before trying to fix these old Beeb's ...
