Yup, a new RTC chip sorted it. I have the desktop, and to answer my earlier question, yes it's running 3.10 in ROM. Sound is very, very quiet (but OK through headphones), perhaps the LM386 amp has died. Yet to try the original keyboard and a mouse, I'll probably clean the keyboard membrane first. The ribbon connectors have seen better days, I'll touch them up with silver paint (looks like someone has already tried that). And the connectors on the motherboard are new, but look, well, "snaggletoothed" is probably most descriptive. Also it's the first time I've seen the Acorn "audio hybrid" board, all my other machines have this (LM324 op-amps) on the motherboard.
