Chris is also owner/CEO of RGL, who sell The Spectrum. It's also confirmed elsewhere that the emulator's author is Chris Smith, the author of The ZX Spectrum ULA: How to Design a Microcomputer and therefore probably the single most trustworthy person to undertake such a task. Its emulation should be top tier.
I can't tell if The Spectrum is running bare-metal on the AllWinner CPU, or running under Linux, as machines like The C64 and The C64Mini do. If the latter, it will have a difficult time supporting truly real-time operation.
It does look quite well engineered, or rather "very smilarly to the original ZX Spectrum".
