I'd also say that 3v is at the very bottom end. 3.3 really should be the point to replace your batteries.
Given it's going into a different language ROM ( terminal) rather than basic would point at data corruption from the CMOS chip. That could be actual data corruption in the chip due to low battery, or data corruption into the system from the chip.
Given the former is easier to diagnose id look at swapping the battery pack first, and try setting the clock to a known value, monitor it for an hour whilst mains is connected, then try turn off then back on see if it keeps it, then try it turned off for longer and longer periods eg5 mins, 30 mins, 2 hrs, overnight.
Also do a *status each time to check the current values of the CMOS ram.
