Some history:
I had a chat with Tom, at the last ABUG, to explain the lack of progress on the release of the ADJI hardware:
I decide, some time ago now, that the ADJI board was too expensive and having the CPLD to fit wouldn't help the build time - the CPLD is getting difficult to source as well! I had changed design due to being 1 pin short for the functality I was after - hence the move to the CPLD. So, I decided to re-look at the PLD design and realised I had duplicated an input
This lead to the resurrection of the original PLD design . . .
Then there was a Windows 11 update that stopped part of Altium working (PCB design package) and I've been struggling to get around this ever since. I have noted that the same update has killed a lot of functionality for a lot of users - there's news about it everywhere!! It's been suggested that I use 'compatibility' mode or something like Oracle VirtualBox! Tried compatibility mode but it didn't fix the issue. Oracle VirtualBox - I struggle, these days, implementing such things
and I'm concerned that the underlying Windows 11 will still have an effect . . . I've also considered rolling-back Windows - but I don't know how many updated I've had since the one that caused the problem - and again I struggle and don't want to kill what I have!
What I'd like to do (help!): My current PC, and previous system, is/was configured to use a seperate drive for data so, hopefully (?), I can just use the HD from my old system, that uses an earlier version of Windows 11 (I'd need to stop any updates!), on my new PC system. I've installed the old system drive into my new build and the drive is fully readable. The plan is/was to use a SATA power switch and boot into the old drive at the power-on stage using something like Rufus.
I installed the SATA switch and Rufus. It all set-up OK. When you look at what Rufus does: It presents itself, at power-on, for you to select which drive to boot from - then it just uses a path into the drive boot location. Should work! It doesn't - when I select the added drive not much happens e.g. blank screen. Looking into why: I've seen, somewhere (?), that if windows (11 ?) 'sees' a bootable drive it will disable it - I'm wondering if this is what has occured?
If this is the cause (?) then I'll need to identify my current drive and make sure I disable that. My SATA power switch is a dual select.
So, any assistance her would be appreciated . . .
