Created in November 2024... here is Games Disc 181.
The disc is called Disc181.dsd so it can be loaded into a Datacentre on a real BBC without having to rename it.
The 18 games on this disc include...
Quest by Dave Tarlton.
Matchem (Me & My Micro) (E) from Acornsoft/NEC/Yorkshire TV.
Breakthru (Z88/BBC) from The Micro User (6.05).
Laser Darts (E) from Electron User Group (28).
3D Noughts And Crosses by ???
Cosmoids (Arcade Games) from Clemoes Software.
Enigma from Chestnut Software.
Lunar Lander (Cassette 50) from Cascade Games Ltd.
Hangman (STD) from A & B Computing (1.06).
Newmarket (E) from The Electron User (5.04).
Open House from EdwardianDuck.
Flappy Bird (V0.2) by 0xC0DE.
Rally Driver (E) from The Electron User (1.08)
Infinite Porridge by Alec Barker.
Trees & Tents by Kees.
Solitaire (E) from The Electron User (5.11).
Yahtzee from Popular Computing Weekly (3.38).
Whist from Acorn Programs (Vol.5).
NOTE: Matchem, Laser Darts, Newmarket, Rally Driver and Solitaire are Electron titles that seem to work OK on a BBC Micro.
Also, Hangman has been amended so you can save your own files to disc.
COMPILATIONS: Matchem from Acornsoft was released as part of their "Me & My Micro" compilation for the Electron. A book was also published by Yorkshire Television in association with The National Extension College.
Also, Cosmoids from Clemoes Software was released as part of their "Arcade Games" compilation along with Bugvaders and Bogiemen.
Lastly, Lunar Lander from Cascade was released as part of their "Cassette 50" compilation.
HACKED GAMES: Hangman has been amended for disc use. Originally, you needed to load the first part and save your data, then load it in part 2. However, I have created and included a file called GAMES which contains the names of 25 BBC Micro games from the 1982/1983 era to allow the main game to work without having to use the set-up program, if you don't have time, although you can use it if you want.
INSTRUCTIONS: The instructions for Breakthru, Hangman, Newmarket, Rally Driver, Solitaire, Yahtzee and Whist were created from their magazines/books.
SPECIALLY CREATED INSTRUCTIONS: The instructions for Matchem were not part of its original release and were created specially from its inlay and book.
Also, the instructions for Laser Darts were not part of its original release and were created from info off the EUG disc.
Lastly, the instructions for Open House and Flappy Bird were not part of their original releases and were created specially from information posted on the net.
MAGAZINE TYPE-IN GAMES: Hangman, Yahtzee and Whist were only available as a type-in from their magazines/books.
EASTER EGGS: If you press ESCAPE during some of the loaders and instructions, then you can skip to loading the game... This works on Enigma and Hangman.
All original filenames have been kept where possible, but some have been changed where they conflict with the limitations of the Disc Filing System. Copy protection routines have been removed.
This disc has also been checked for *KEY related issues and is OK.
PS Thanks to all those who have purchased software and posted it on here.
Also to those who are writing new software for BBC and Electron.
Happy Xmas!
Mick.
