I get that crash on my pi400, I will by trying your fix.Zap user here. The last release (32bitted if memory serves) can be a bit persnickety, but most of the issues (editing an Obey file or opening a taskwindow then getting weird crashes) are down to the LineEditor module.....
On my SA RPC700 with RO 4.39 I have !Zap 1.48 16 2011 Sept tnk-7 I think that is from here https://www.tankstage.co.uk/software.html
On my Pi400 I have the one from !Store and (there been some discussion of this on ROOL too) but with that version triple click does not select a line but from the second line of the file to the click point. This is not broken in 1.48.
I get that StrongEd is under active development and Zap not, but I occasionally have to share my Pi400 with VNC and Zoom and I really couldn't be seen using an editor that looked like that. Maybe you can turn off the tool bar, I didn't stay long enough to find out.
I would say that !Zap on RISC OS 5 is far more unstable than it is on 4, I rarely see it crash on my RPC and carrying on despite the abort errors is fairly normal on Pi400/5.29. I am running 1.48 tnk-7 on another Pi4/5.28 and triple click is working there. I don't use that as much but I can't remember it crashing on me either.
I might conclude that 1.48 tnk-7 to be preferable to Ricks version.
