What modem do you have and does the lead connect the modem to the RS423 socket at the
rear of your Beeb ? What hardware do you have, it would help to recommend something.

There are many, many terminal programs you can use, some in ROM that you
can softload into your BBC, if you have sideways RAM. If not ? then there are programs you can
just load up into RAM. As you mentioned you could use an actual ROM inserted into the spare sockets
on the board of your beeb.

If you let us know what you have and what sort of BBS you want to check out I can
recommend a few and point you to them. Would it be an ANSI BBS with Graphics to look at or
a text only ASCII based BBS, or a Viewdata BBS like Telstar which is ideal for a Beeb?

JGH's Terminal program he quoted there will work if you are without storage and just want to get online
to a text based BBS
