No, dungeoncrawlers.org do not list The Dungeon because it is a free-movement blobber. They are silly in that regard. Anything grid goes there, but not free movement. So they do not list the Ravenloft games, Menzoberranzan, Might & Magic 6-9, Wizardry 8 etc... I have pushed them about that but so far no change. There is also a list on rpgdot called "Complete List of Western (Non-Anime) Blobbers - both RT and TB" but it is less complete than the others and silly enough remove anime blobbers.I’ve had a look on dungeoncrawlers.org and their list seems pretty comprehensive and they’re still adding games from the 80’s and 90’s - it’s just missing The Dungeon!
LoG2 is one of my favorite games of all time. It was the first time a game like this was genuinely creepy!Looking through it there are plenty of classics I still want to play, though I played through Legend of Grimrock 2 last year, which was excellent. The first game is definitely a turning point for modernisation in the genre.
I had no clue how to create a functional formatted HD so I ended up using a 500mb harddrive someone made, emptied it of files and installed The Dungeon in it. I am very green on Acorn Archimedes for sure, but kept using it like that since I got it started. But thanks to your tips I am doing frequent backups of the savefiles only.Hmm… that’s strange. Either it’s more copy protection or the game has a special process that needs to create the save file slots first, before you can copy other save files into it. You could try copying your main HDD “!Dungeon” file into another folder, then replace any saves into the newly copied file, that way you shouldn’t have to reinstall it again. I tried this and it seems to work fine. Make sure you copy large files in Windows or it’ll take ages in the emulator - I’ve made that mistake quite a few times!
For myself I just backup the entire emulator folder onto an external drive with the saves copied in a separate folder too. That way I’m using the same game install all the time if I want to restore individual save files, or transfer the whole thing to another PC etc.
I do not mind. I try to push the puzzles to a degree on my own. I did find the solution for the teleport, so just the gate gate in the end of the labyrinth left for level 3.I don’t remember how that gate opens, but I know what you need to do with the item transporting pentagram, not sure if the two are connected. I remember having to solve some puzzles through trial and error. I'll try not to give any direct solutions unless you definitely want them though.
I am proud for figuring out the apple throw puzzle on my own, then I remembered you mentioning having a character with lower strength and that is how I figured out to use my mage when throwing the apple.
