To re-enter a package from scratch you need to add 0 to the command, ie. *IW.0
This is mentioned in the Inter-Word manual, haven't checked the other Inter manuals. In MAME I can easily switch packages from within a package, ie. *IB. from within Inter-Word and vice-versa. But if I leave a package without clearing the previous package workspace with :CANCEL or :KILL then I see the issue, which is likely expected.
After further ROM-Link reading I believe you're supposed to specify a package number when starting, ie. *IW.0, *IB.1, *IS.2, etc. and if not specified will default to 0 and potentially corrupt data from another package. You can then use the ROM-Link menu from within a package to see which package numbers are in use and how many bytes are allocated to each.
