off-topic • m2 slot on my new(old) PC

I recently bagged a newer PC on Facebook marketplace. A Dell Vostro 3470 with an i3-8110 cpu which is a little better than the PC I was using but has decent upgradability so will probably last me a few years before needing to upgrade again. All for only £30, less than we'd spend on fish and chips as a family!
I want to add some sort of drive to the m2 slot but not really being up to date in the PC area has left me scratching my head.

Every reference to m.2 sata drives seems show two keys, B & M. However the slot on the motherboard has only 1 key - M. Everything I find online with one key seems to be described as NVMe which I've read is not compatible with my motherboard. I've even found one post online stating that the Dell documentation confirms it a B key, I've read the docs and can't find that. It certainly doesn't look like a B key.

Is this all just due to Dell wanting to force people to buy upgrades from Dell? I may have read m.2 sata ssd'd are no longer being made but I'm happy to stick a cheap used one in.
