Blimey, I don't even remember those diagonal dots! I am using RGBtoHDMI now but I can connect it up to a CRT to see if there is still picture interference.

PSU is unlikely to have been re-capped, I don't think the X2 caps have exploded though.

Anything specific I can do to test if earth is good?

I could try Station 112's power strip in a different mains wall socket.

It may be related to the 1MHz bus. I have several devices attached to a sort of "backbone" 34-way ribbon cable. All have been powered off during this time. Unplugging individual cables from the backbone cable didn't help, but I found if I unplugged the 1MHz bus cable entirely from underneath, the problem seemed to go away.

Maybe just the presence of devices on 1MHz bus puts a bit of extra load on the PSU, even if they are not activated, which is causing interference?

I'm wondering whether this has been going on a while, but I only noticed yesterday because of the fact that I switched on my desktop PC and the Ethernet adapter wouldn't connect. Also this gives new credence to the multiple reports over a long period of time from the management of "television not working" which is also connected to the internet via a powerline adapter...
